The Artist in Residence concept is exactly as it sounds—a living space seamlessly integrated with the artist's workspace and gallery. For this project, I chose to delve into the profound themes of life and death, personifying them through two artists: Marjorie X, who represents Death, and Aurora Wack, embodying Life.
Located behind the Dia Beacon Art Museum, the site inspired me to weave elements of the museum’s minimalist design into the artists’ living spaces. The design focuses on stark, bare walls paired with bold, attention-grabbing furniture pieces that double as art installations—creating a dynamic yet simple environment that reflects the essence of both life and death.
